The equation to be solved is well known: in 2050, due to global population growth, the deployment of electric mobility and the economic development of emerging countries, we will need twice as much electricity. Meanwhile, we will have to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to keep global warming below the 1.5°C target. Since electricity production is currently the main source of global CO2 emissions due to the use of fossil fuels (coal and natural gas), nuclear energy is one of the solutions available. By contributing to the production of a continuous supply of affordable, low-carbon electricity, nuclear energy is a valuable tool for tackling the climate emergency.
