Faced with energy and climate crises, countries around the world are looking to low-carbon energy for energy security. This is the promise of nuclear power, which has been making a huge comeback since 2022. A number of governments have stated they are restarting existing reactors, extending service lives and launching new builds, including high power and small modular reactors.
Like COP28, several global organizations are calling for a tripling of nuclear capacity by 2050.
The challenge? To meet double the demand for electricity while maintaining the carbon neutrality goal.
